Chatsworth to Santa Barbara Ride in Memory of John McLaughlin
Availability: In Stock

Price: $45.00

Thanks to the hard work & dedication of the LA Tri Club Cycling Events volunteers & staff, we will be kicking off another fantastic SAG-supported long ride on Saturday April 12th - Chatsworth to Santa Barbara!
⭐⭐ Course Overview ⭐⭐
1️⃣ The first ride segment will take you up Santa Susana Pass, through Simi Valley and down Santa Rosa Valley on the newly paved Santa Rosa Road to Camarillo.
2️⃣ The second ride segment goes through agriculture to Saticoy and then through Ventura to Mission Park.
3️⃣ In the final ride segment, you will ride along scenic coastlines to Carpenteria. Then you will take the newly constructed Santa Claus Bike Lane to the beach mansions on Padaro Lane to Summerland. From Summerland, you will link up with the Santa Barbara Triathlon bike course that will take you back to Cabrillo Pavilion and onward to the finish.
The route will be a “warm-up” for those taking on the epic Gibraltar climb as a bonus. Gibraltar is one of the few HC category climbs in Southern California and is on the bucket list for cyclists around the world. This will be your opportunity to attempt it, if you dare!
💰💰 COST 💰💰
The cost of this event is:
$20 for members
$45 for non-members (ALL non-members must sign a waiver & pay in advance).
Your paid RSVP includes full SAG support at our 3 club-provided aid stations (water, nutrition, snacks, electrolytes & bike mechanic assistance) AND a reservation for your bike to return to Chatsworth on our U-Haul. The train will NOT accommodate the number of bikes we expect to need transportation, therefore we have paid for a large U-Haul and will carefully load & drive your bikes back for you.

❤️❤️ In Memory of John McLaughlin ❤️❤️
Our LATC family is dedicating this ride to our friend and brother John McLaughlin, who was tragically killed while cycling on February 22nd. We will hold a moment of silence before the ride and a tribute walk along the beach in Santa Barbara at 4pm. Please support his GoFundMe page for his family >> https://gofund.me/dad437c6

** What to Expect **
We are budgeting 9 hours for this 78-mile ride from Chatsworth to Santa Barbara. That is an average of 8.67 mph. This ride is do-able for most cyclists. We want you to average at least 11 mph, so you will have 2 hours to eat, drink, and relax before catching the train ride home. For those attempting Gibraltar, please arrive at Santa Barbara in 5 hours, approx. 12:30pm. This will give us 4 hours to ride Gibraltar and back at a comfortable pace. (22 miles, ~3.7K vert) DO NOT attempt Gibraltar past 1:30pm!
** Ride Start **
We will roll out of the Chatsworth train station parking lot at 7:30am sharp! Please be there at 7:00am for photos and a safety brief
