Tour Minogue

TOUR MINOGUE Sunday October 17th, 2010: This is a bike ride tribute for our fallen LA Tri Club comrade Joe Minogue who died suddenly from a heart attack after his morning bike commute September 21, 2010. Joe was a really great guy, a wonderful, caring friend, a loving husband and father, and an excellent athlete. One of his favorite things to do was train on all the hard climbs of the Santa Monica Mountains. With that in mind we picked a tough ascent, Yerba Buena Road. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=4072504 We will meet at Zuma Beach, the most northern parking lot (Life Guard Station 14) for a clip-in at 8 AM. We will head North on PCH. Just past County Line (at Neptune's Net Cafe) we turn right on Yerba Buena Road, which we will rename for the day "Alpe d'Joe". It’s an hour or more climb (approx.8 miles w/ 5% grade) to the Ranger Station, where we will take a break and regroup. From there, we will continue until we reach Mulholland Hwy, descending that back to PCH and heading south back to Zuma. There will be a sag vehicle and water and snacks available. A perfect ride, with some of the most beautiful vistas in the Santa Monica Mountains. Hope you can join us for a great ride honoring a great guy!

Meet at Zuma, most northern parking lot, life gaurd station #14. Clip-in time 8am. Bring appropriate liquids, nutrients and cycling gear.
