San Diego's only USAT sanctioned Olympic Distance race. USAT sanctioned races draw from a national group of competitive athletes who compete in the USAT points series. The race course showcases the best of San Diego and is designed to be a quality race experience. Athletes will experience the history and beauty of America's finest city as they make their way through naval bases, historic monuments and San Diego’s waterfront on this spectator friendly course. It consists of a 1500 meter fast and flat swim in San Diego Bay, featuring unparalleled views of the downtown San Diego skyline and a unique opportunity to swim under the Pedestrian Footbridge near Harbor Dr. The 40 km, two-loop bike course will present a worthwhile challenge beginning at Liberty Station and passing through scenic Point Loma, the Point Loma Submarine Base, and Cabrillo National Monument, with challenging elevation climbs, testing athletes' fitness and skill level. The 10 km run is flat and forgiving, winding through historic NTC/Liberty Station, along the San Diego water front and the USS Recruit. The transition area and start/finish line is convenient and spacious for both athletes and spectators, ideally situated on the water's edge in the southern corner of Liberty Station in the large Parks and Recreation green space. Ample parking is available in the many parking lots within Liberty Station. The post-race festivities will be epic, featuring entertainment, award ceremonies, refreshments, vendors and exhibits. The San Diego Triathlon Classic is a USAT sanctioned event. All athletes must abide by the USAT Rules. Click on the USAT logo for a copy of the rules. Please read them and abide by them.
