Baby Joey's First Annual Run For Life
The Josephine DeMello Foundation hosting its First Annual 5K Walk/Run to benefit our foundation to support Sudden Infant Death Syndrome research and education. The primary goal of our foundation is to increase awareness, streamline education on this subject for new parents, and to provide counseling for parents who have lost a child at a young age. Coping with the deal of a child is an immeasurable fear without the proper support, we know this all too well after losing our child to SIDS last year. The Josephine DeMello Foundation was created by us after suffering the loss of our child as well as our goddaughter to SIDS over the course of the year. It may sound surprising, but SIDS is the leading cause of death among infants. There is an abundance of information and research related to SIDS, but the delivery of this information at times falls short of its audience. Our goal is to create literature that will streamline parental and child care provider education about SIDS to reduce children’s deaths. We also support research currently being conducted at UCLA on the neurological causes of SIDS and the San Diego SIDS research project, a program of the Children’s Specialist Foundation. This is our opportunity to give back to our community and raise awareness to help fight SIDS. We would like to ask your support to achieve our goals. It would be greatly appreciated if you could show your support through donations and register to join the 5K walk/run this coming March 14, 2009. We will also be holding a raffle that afternoon, and anything you could contribute will go along way towards our cause.
