Read Julio Garcia's tri journey...

How did you hear about LA Tri Club?

I knew Deb Carabet and Brennan Lindner from the Wings for Life World Run. I was the RD and LA Tri provided us the cyclists.

What got you interested in triathlon? I turned 40. It was time for a new challenge.

What was your first Triathlon (or the first one you might be training for currently)?  Tell us all about it!! I did the Pasadena Tri but I consider the Herbalife24 Tri LA my first. I wanted to overcome my fear of swimming in the ocean and I did. Shout out to Deb for taking me out in the ocean.

What is your favorite race and why? The New Year’s Race 2013-2020. I created it and was the RD.

If you could pick three MUST HAVES / MUST DO'S on race day morning, what are they? (for example: MINE are peanut butter toast, epic playlist, jog on the beach in my wetsuit before showtime!!) Take a hot shower. Fresh haircut(makes you faster lol). Say out loud what I am grateful for.

Have you been to any LATC events so far? (Friday swims, new member events, group rides, etc?) Friday swims. Making some new friends. Shout out to Rodrigo, William and DMLoveLife.

Do you have any plans for more races in the near future? I got the bug. Signed up for Hermosa Tri, Ironman 70.3 Santa Cruz, Malibu Tri and Ironman Cabo.

What do you do outside of your training? For work, other sports, for fun, etc. I love spending time with my daughter; outdoor activities, eating chocolate with her, laughing, etc.

What has been the most difficult thing for you personally about training for triathlons? Building a schedule to find the time to put in the training. Had to readjust my life schedule to fit in swimming and biking.

Do you know anyone else that is currently a member of LATC? If yes, who?! DEB!!!!
